FranchiseCanada Show recap: Calgary and Toronto
The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) held two shows in February. The FranchiseCanada Show stopped in Calgary Feb. 10 & 11 and Toronto Feb. 24 & 25 to provide information and encouragement to prospective franchise business owners in Eastern and Western Canada.
Calgary
Canadian entrepreneurs who were looking for a head start in business ownership got to connect with some of the hottest commodities in franchising at the Big Four Building in Calgary’s Stampede Park. Franchisors from industries like fast food, real estate and tutoring services exhibited their brands and opportunities for expansion in the Calgary area. In total, 22 different exhibitors gave prospective business owners in Cowtown a peek into the wide world of franchising.
In addition to viewing the various franchising opportunities available in Calgary and surrounding area, guests were also treated to seminars over the two-day event. Nine different speakers from RBC Royal Bank of Canada, BMO Bank of Montreal and a few different franchise brands all gave talks on subjects ranging from picking the right franchise to legal issues potential franchisees should be aware of.
Our very own Chuck Prenevost, was there giving the talk: “Buying a Franchise in a Recovering Economy.”
As Chuck says, the question to ask is not: “Should I start my own business?” The question should be: “How do I find the right business that best suits me.”
Chuck has assisted tons of entrepreneurs across Western Canada realize their dreams of business ownership by matching the skills and the passions they have from their corporate careers with a business model that aligns with their goals. He’s been an entrepreneur his entire life and has started his own business from scratch, giving him a unique perspective that he loves sharing to keep FranNet clients properly focused on finding the right business for themselves.
Toronto
After its foray out west, The FranchiseCanada Show headed back east and stopped at the Toronto Congress Centre to showcase some of Canada’s most beloved and iconic franchise brands. A total of 50 exhibitors (including FranNet) were on hand to give hopeful entrepreneurs all the information they could need to start a franchise business. Franchises of all investments levels that were expanding in the Toronto area were on hand to walk guests through the process of vetting and choosing a franchise business to invest in.
The Toronto show also featured a first for The FranchiseCanada Show. For the first time ever, successful franchisees from across the GTA were invited to share their franchise success stories, provide insider tips on how to invest with confidence and offer exciting perspective on what it’s like to be your own boss. What better way to learn about franchising than straight from the franchisees themselves?
Like in Calgary, the show held in Hogtown featured a bevy of speakers who gave seminars on topics of interest to franchise owners, including financial and legal subjects that empowered guests to plan and invest in their future with the utmost confidence.
Led by franchise experts, speakers included representatives from SRS Canada, RBC Royal Bank of Canada, HSBC Bank of Canada, Dale & Lessmann LLP, and many others.
And you know FranNet was represented there. This time it was Gary Prenevost, our Consultant for Southern Ontario and Eastern Canada. (Those Prenevosts sure know their franchising.) Gary gave the talk: “Three Simple Rules to Achieve Success as a Franchisee.”
Gary really knows what he’s talking about. He sits on the Ontario Council of the CFA and he's a director for the Toronto Association of Career Professionals. If there’s anyone who can school potential franchisees on how to be successful, it’s Gary.
